Ruth’s journey to motherhood was not an easy one. After experiencing multiple pregnancy losses, she and her partner decided that adoption was going to be the main part of their story. They started their journey by becoming foster parents and were open to adopting a child in their care if the opportunity arose.

One day, they received a phone call about a baby boy who needed a forever home. They were not expecting a baby, but when they walked into the NICU and saw little baby Alex, Ruth's heart jumped. The day prior, they had agreed that Alexander would be the perfect name if they had a boy. It felt like fate that this baby boy already had the name they had chosen.
