A Story of Strength, Told in Gold: Stephanie's Neckace

Some stories find us in special ways. Stephanie’s is one we won’t forget.

It began with a message from her sister, Melanie. She reached out to us on Instagram to share something deeply personal. After 16 rounds of chemotherapy, her sister Stephanie was about to ring the bell. A moment that marks not just the end of treatment, but the strength it takes to get there.

At the time, our breast cancer ribbon necklace hadn’t launched yet. We were still weeks away. But we knew we wanted Stephanie to have it in time for her bell-ringing. So we sent it early; a small surprise to symbolize everything she had been through and to celebrate this moment.

Stephanie has been part of the Maya Brenner community for years. Her story with us started in 2021, when she received her initial and birthstone necklace after the birth of her first son. Since then, it’s become something shared between sisters. Stephanie, Melanie, and their sisters have continued the tradition, gifting pieces to one another as their families have grown.

But this piece held something different.

In September 2025, Stephanie was diagnosed with Stage 2 invasive ductal carcinoma breast cancer. She was 37, with no family history or genetic markers. She found the lump herself and received a diagnosis just two weeks later.

What followed were five months of chemotherapy. Sixteen infusions. The kind of experience that changes you in ways both seen and unseen. And then came the bell, a moment so many in the cancer community hold onto. A sound that represents resilience, relief, and everything it took to reach that day.

To honor that moment, Stephanie’s sisters and mom gifted her the breast cancer ribbon necklace. A symbol of her strength and everything she overcame. She wore it that day, and she wears it now with pride.

Stephanie also shared something she hopes others will take with them. She had no warning signs, no family history, no reason to expect it, and still, it happened. Her story is a reminder to listen to your body, to trust yourself, and to advocate for your health if something feels off, no matter your age. Early detection matters.

Stephanie, thank you for letting us be part of your story. We are so honored to celebrate this moment with you. And to anyone reading this, may you always wear your story close to your heart.
